Breaking News |
Minister
Leaving. For the second time this year, a minister is leaving
a San Diego congregation.
Rev. Kathleen Green's last Sunday at Summit
UU Fellowship in Santee will be August 29. "Right now I plan to stay
in the area for another year, and will be exploring various
ministerial opportunities while I work on a couple of books
I've been writing," she said. This Sunday (June 27)
will be the last service for Rev. Margo McKenna Brower at
Chalice UU Congregation in Escondido. Rev.
Thomas Anastasi of Seattle will start in August as the congregation's Interim
Minister for a year until a Settled Minister is selected.
Memorial
Service. A Memorial Service is scheduled for this
Saturday (June 26) for Robert Landay, a founding member of
UU Fellowship of San Dieguito who died on June 15. The service
will be held at 2 p.m. in the Amphitheater.
GA
Opens. General Assembly begins today in Minneapolis.
It will be in Charlotte, North Carolina, in June 2011.
Social
Action. The San Diego Cluster's Social Action
Committee expects to come up with at least two social
justice projects that congregations can participate in
during 2010-2011.
As part of the process, the Steering Committee is sending
out guidelines to Social Action Committees at each congregations
and expets to start receiving proposals back in July. The
Social Action
Committee, chaired by Irv Himelblau of UU
Fellowship of San Dieguito, grew out of a Social Action Weekend
earlier this year that
was highlighted by a demonstration in front of the Federal
Building in downtown San Diego. Among the criteria for the
Cluster-wide Social Action projects: Multi-generational participation
and the timeliness of projects as they relate to the needs
of our community and the world.
